  • Survlog a log file viewer for OS X
  • I just wanted to let people know of some other things Ive been working on, you know, to get the word out there.

For the past year Ive been building a log file viewer specifically for OS X called survlog. You can find it here It handles local and remote log file viewing. Read more after the picture :)

  • Sirens downtime
  • I know it wasn't scheduled or anything, but the sirens will be down at max until Saturday while we work on some upgrades to hardware, and prepare for our new system. Will keep you posted on this thread. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

EDIT : They are back online.

  • Roothack Sirens, and more
  • Over the past couple of years, Roothack.org has been using Vmware Workstation to handle its wargames. We've built up quite a few machines and its getting pretty annoying having to take snapshots for people, revert their boxes, or even install a new OS. It requires us to manually use the vmware gui(pictured below) which has been getting the job done.

  • IRC is at irc.hack3r.com
  • Hack3r.com irc is at irc.hack3r.com

  • I added something, yay.
  • You can now add tutorials. YOu can either upload a file(40megs), and/or you can upload a screencast/video from near any format which goes onto cdn2. Very Cool stuff. Ill be working on getting a system setup so you can easily find them, and then well get a link added to the right side of the page. Its a simple view, except that its late, and I have two site launches this week. If you have any problems, send feedback.

  • Team Wargames TONIGHT!
  • April 10th is finally here. The team wargames are ready to go. We still have not been able to determine if we can handle all of the 5 teams signed up, but we can guarantee 4 teams. We have a few heatsinks to try hopefully one of them works. We're asking the captains to be on IRC around 8 PM Pacific. We will have about an hour or so to chat and welcome everyone to the games, prepare your challenge package per team, and then we will begin.

  • Updates about whats going on.
  • Well, s0kket and I decided this morning to postpone the team games. They are 100% done we just need time to test and make sure these are done right. This is so that you have the best experience possible. We are also waiting on a bit of hardware so that our server can handle the 15 vm's that will be up. The team signup will go live on Friday(instead of last Monday), and you will have about 2 weeks to prepare your team. Check back Friday at noon PST to sign up your team or as a free-agent. First come first serve.

  • Team games
  • The team wargames signup will go live tomorrow. You'll be able to see it on the My account page when we turn it on. These team wargames are nothing like we have done before. You will be tasked with many challenges and even obstacles to get on to your box. The first round of these games begin Friday the 20th, (1 week away). Teams can only consist of 4 people. All of the rules will be released mid-week and we are only taking a total of 4 teams. If for some reason we feel the need to add a 5th team based on popularity, then we will.

  • Back up
  • Maintenance has concluded and DNS's should be resolving everywhere with the new IPs.

If you cannot resolve any of our hostnames like irc.hack3r.com or sirens.roothack.org, try adding 4.2.2.1 to your /etc/resolv.conf

A few things we changed were:
Added more visible blocks to homepage
Switched over to a new host.
    Fixed log formats for sirens.
    Updated Lux (the 1u server)
    Cleaned up Sirens and Snapshot

  • H3C + RH
  • Soooo, s0kket and I finally fixed up the labs, images will be posted tomorrow.
The solo based wargames are back online and can be found here

Team based information can be found here

More information will be posted soon as to other updates and fun things. Thanks for waiting, if you have any questions hop on IRC or ask in the forums.
